Dr. Amir Atabaki is a Research Scientist in Physical Optics and Electronics Group in the Research Laboratory of Electronics at MIT. His research focuses on photonic integration toward large-scale electronic-photonic integrated systems for applications in computation, communications, biology and medical devices.

Prior to MIT, from 2011 to 2013, Amir was a Postdoctoral Associate in Photonics Research Group at Georgia Tech working on integrated nonlinear optical devices and CMOS-compatible hybrid material platforms.  In 2011, he co-founded Sinoora Inc. where he developed chip-scale spectrometers in the visible and near infrared range for biomedical sensing applications.

Dr. Atabaki holds degrees in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech, Ph.D. ’11 and Sharif University of Technology, M.Sc. ’05 & B.Sc. ’03.
